Keynote: 'Dreams of Resting Spaces'
I have an Invisible Condition (chronic pain), and that means I need to lie down (a lot).
In 2017 I embarked on the audio visual installation A Crash Course in Cloudspotting (the subversive act of horizontality), based on my experiences of trying to lie down in public spaces.
As part of our research we asked people with Invisible Conditions what would make their local arts centre truly accessible to them. From the 180+ responses we know that resting spaces would fundamentally change the way people move through a city, and allow them access to the cultural spaces where ‘normal life happens’ .
I will share the 6 simple solutions we gathered from the survey participants and pioneering UK venues, and our ambition for an app and Resting Spaces Network.
