Community Engagement Producer for ‘A Crash Course in Cloudspotting’

Supported by Unlimited and Camden Alive.

Fee: £750 (6 days at £125 per day)

The Project:

A Crash Course in Cloudspotting is an audio - visual installation, taking place at Swiss Cottage Gallery in early 2020. The piece asks its audiences to lie down and listen to the verbatim stories of local Camden residents living with hidden disabilities. The piece invites 50 local residents with hidden conditions to perform remotely, using light as a metaphor for presence (Using an app on their phone). This will visually communicate their real-time patterns of rest and create a bridge between audience and people often absented from cultural spaces by their conditions.

We aim to build connection and highlight / counter isolation in this hidden community.

To Deliver the following areas of Work:

  • To work with and engage with the local community, specifically those in the community that live with hidden disabilities such as chronic pain, M.E, depression – those who may need to rest throughout the day.

  • To enlist participants for ‘Cloud spotting’ working directly with organisations such as Camden Disability Action and Camden Council.

  • To enlist and be the main contact for between 30 – 50 participants.
